"What kind of counselling do you offer?"
I am a Humanistic Integrative Counsellor. My training is based on the three counselling models of Person-Centred, Gestalt therapy and Transactional Analysis. I believe that a trusting relationship between client and counsellor is essential for counselling to be effective and all humanistic counselling models are based on this. As an Integrative Counsellor I am able to draw from all three models to find the best 'tools' and techniques to help you, in your individual situation.

"How can counselling help me?"
Many of us are very good at taking care of our physical health in terms of living more active lives and eating healthily. We are often happy to visit a Doctor with our physical symptoms or consult an Osteopath or Chiropractor with a back problem. A Counsellor is there to offer help and support for our emotional health and well-being in times of stress, change or difficulty. Exploring your feelings and emotions within the safety of a trusting, confidential and professional relationship can enable you to live your life more fully and make the changes you wish to make.

"How long does a session last?"
Sessions last for 50 minutes and are usually held at the same time each week.
I allow 10 minutes between each session so please try to arrive as close to your appointment time as possible and not before.

"How much does it cost?"
My standard session fee is £40.00 and I have limited sessions available at a reduced rate for those in financial difficulty. Please feel free to call me or email if you would like to discuss this.

"How many sessions will I need?"
This varies greatly from person to person and will depend on various factors. Sometimes clients come with a specific issue that can be worked through in one or two sessions. Others may come with several different issues or experiences from their past which can take many more sessions. The decision of how long to come for will always be yours and is something that we will explore and review on an ongoing basis.

"How do I choose which counsellor/type of counselling is right for me?"
It can be very daunting trying to choose from the various counselling models available not to mention which counsellor. I believe it is important to have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about counselling first and to get any further information you might need. For this reason I suggest you have a look at the BACP website for information about what to expect from counselling and the different types of counselling available. They also provide an online directory of counsellors and therapists in your area for you to choose from. "Can I bring my child with me to appointments?"
No. Counselling is a major commitment in terms of both your time and money and so it is important you arrive for your session free from distractions and ready to focus entirely on yourself and your reasons for being here
